With immediate effect Palletline announces the retirement of Trevor Ellis as Palletline’s long-standing Chairman of 11 years. Trevor was instrumental in some of the company’s most strategic advances during the last decade, which not only saw the business grow despite the global recession, but emerge the strongest member owned pallet network, having stayed true to the original business model launched in 1992. Trevor will remain on the Palletline plc board.
Trevor commented “my eleven years as Palletline’s Chairman has been one of the highlights of my career and it’s with great excitement that I hand over the reigns to Jim Welch, who will undoubtedly add his stamp on the business whilst again remaining a true supporter of our unique business model”.
His successor is Jim Welch of Welch’s Transport who said of his appointment “it is a real honour to be invited to steer Palletline during its next phase of development, wherein we will of course face new challenges in our industry, especially with the continued growth of the home delivery market being driven by e-retail. My role in this business will be to encourage our network members to continue to strive towards the common goals of delivering exemplary levels of service across the network and keep our position in the market as the true innovator. Through the combined efforts of our family of high quality members, Palletline with continue to thrive in a market which appears to be moving ever faster”.
Graham Leitch, Managing Director of Palletline plc added, “rarely do businesses have such a plethora of highly successful business heads within their midst to chose from, however Palletline finds itself in this luxury position and therefore a decision was made taking into consideration the needs of the business and this important role. Therefore both personally and on behalf of Palletline I welcome Jim Welch into the position. It also goes without saying how proud we are to have had Trevor Ellis as our Chairman for the past eleven years, and he has been of significant value to my role since I took over the business in 2015”.
The Palletline non-executive board members are owners of privately owned transport businesses with a membership and shareholding in Palletline plc, and hence all have a key vested interest in the success of peer companies and the central plc, ensuring a motivated business at all levels.
