Bill has overall responsibility for the Bowker Group which includes the logistics business as well as the motor dealership group. In 2019, the company celebrated its Centenary.
Bill is one of the third-generation members running the family business and the fourth generation are now actively involved in the business.
Upon joining the business over 42 year ago, Bill spent time working within every department before taking charge of the business in 1995, once Bill’s father had retired.
After the successful acquisition of Potter Logistics in 2016, the business now operates 7 UK distribution centres, with 160 vehicles, 300 trailers and over 1,000,000 ft2 of warehousing. The operation employs over 450 people.
Amongst his proudest achievements are the numerous awards received from its customers, being the first logistics Company to win the Chemical Business Association’s Overall Responsible Care Award, receiving the RHA’s Diamond Haulier of the Year Award last year as part of their 75th Anniversary and this year being recognised as one of the Top 30 UK Logistics Providers for 2020.
Outside of work, Bill enjoys spending time with his family. His hobbies include walking in the Lake District, watching football and considers himself to be a keen vintage car enthusiast.
