West Country-based Palletline Member Company Gregory Distribution Ltd has been playing a key role in the fortunes of five potential Olympians. The company agreed a three year sponsorship package with 'Team Gregory' back in 2010, including other major sporting occasions such as the Commonwealth Games, the European and World Championships, aiming to ensure each is given the best possible chance of achieving their sporting ambitions.

Team Gregory brings together athletes from five different disciplines, including World Champion swimmer Liam Tancock, Olympic modern pentathlon Silver Medallist Heather Fell, World Champion windsurfer Nick Dempsey, UK 800m Champion Jemma Simpson and the UK Champion pistol shooter Gorgs Geikie.

It's a visual promotion too – the five athletes feature on the sides of some of GDL's massive 44ft trailers, transporting goods all over the UK. In addition, GDL have set up a special website dedicated to the achievements of Team Gregory, and continue to promote the team via social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

Team Gregory was originally the brainchild of GDL Chief Executive John Gregory. He is committed to the concept, stating, "We are a West Country business with roots that go deep across the region. We wanted to support West Country born or based individual athletes to realise their sporting ambitions and we have created a team of outstanding talents who are committed and totally focused on what they want to achieve."

GDL has been working to get everyone in the region, including employees, suppliers and customers, right behind Team Gregory, creating a groundswell of support for them to take into the competitive arena. "Our contribution is to raise awareness of what these fantastic young people are doing and to make everyone really proud of them," said John.
