Palletline Expands in Essex

Essex-based Jonen Shipping Limited is the latest new member to join Palletline plc, the UK’s leading pallet distribution network.

The company, which is based at Thornwood Common, near Epping, is covering the CM16, IG, RM and E4, 17 and 18 postcode areas for Palletline, incorporating Romford, Ilford and other parts of east London.

Founded in 1972, Jonen Shipping employs 62 staff and operates a 30-plus vehicle fleet across 3 depots.

As well as general haulage services across the UK, Jonen Shipping also operates a daily service to Germany and has extensive contacts in West Africa.

John Hodges, managing director, said he is proud to become a member of Palletline.

He added: “Palletline is a highly professional organisation and an established brand – the quality of service is clear.

“We were also impressed with its unique structure; along with Palletline’s other high calibre members, we will now own an equal share of the business. It is this joint culture that appealed.

“With the increasing demands of our customers, we had been looking to join a network for some time and Palletline was the obvious choice.”

Founded in 1992, Palletline was the UK’s first national network dedicated to pallet distribution.

Operating from a main hub in Birmingham with regional hubs at Greenford, west London, and Preston, the company today employs some 150 staff, with major clients including blue chip organisations such as Parcelforce and J Sainsbury plc. As well as the UK, Palletline offers deliveries to mainland Europe, Scandinavia and the Irish Republic.
