Palletline Leads the Way with New Online Service

Palletline plc, the UK’s longest established palletised freight distribution network, has launched an innovative web-based service – the first of its kind in this sector.

Palletline Online (www.palletlineonline.co.uk) allows online retailers and occasional users to take advantage of the network’s nationwide coverage and market-leading service standards.

Users simply log on, book and pay for transportation of their goods to and from anywhere in the UK - whether a home or business address.

Glyn Jones, Managing Director of Palletline plc, commented: “The Palletline Online service is a response to the ongoing growth of online retailing and enables anyone with web access to arrange collections and deliveries nationwide at a highly competitive rate.

“It also allows smaller customers to enjoy the same level of service as large companies inputting several hundred pallets each week into our network.

“As our network is wholly owned by the membership, customers can be sure that each member treats every pallet as if it were their own – with the result that our service levels are recognised as the best in the sector.”

Founded in 1992, Palletline was the UK’s first national network dedicated to pallet distribution.

Operating from a main hub in Birmingham with regional hubs at Greenford, west London, and Preston, the company today employs some 150 staff, with major clients including blue chip organisations such as Parcelforce and J Sainsbury plc. As well as the UK, Palletline offers deliveries to mainland Europe, Scandinavia and the Irish Republic.

Uniquely among pallet networks in the UK, Palletline is wholly owned by its membership. Currently Palletline has more than 65 member companies across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, each year covering some 15 million miles and making more than 8500 deliveries a day on behalf of the network.

The company’s quality ethos is driven by ongoing investment in state of the art IT with sophisticated pallet scanning and a web-based track and trace system featuring on-line proof of delivery (POD) images to maximise service performance and transparency. This service will also be available to Palletline Online customers free of charge via the website.
