Tailor Made Logistics Solutions for Aspalls

Palletline is to provide valuable distribution links for super-premium Aspall Suffolk Cyder as an integral part of a new partnership between Aspall and Palletline member company Anglia Freight Ltd.

Under the terms of the agreement, Anglia Freight will warehouse all Aspall cider, vinegar and apple juice at its Suffolk depot before managing a total distribution solution to deliver products to Aspall’s on and off-trade customers.

Although the contract calls for both full and part-loads to satisfy volume requirements, some 40% of total production will be shipped via Anglia Freight through the Palletline system. Here, Palletline’s ability to make timed deliveries into RDCs around the UK played a significant role in meeting the requirements of the contract.

Information technology has been an important consideration, too. Investment by Anglia Freight and Palletline means the two companies can provide transparent end to end solutions which link seamlessly into Aspall’s own order system.

The move has been prompted by growing demand for Aspall brands, with the company planning to grow significantly over the next five years. Transfer of warehousing and logistics facilities will allow Aspall to focus on core activities, with Anglia Freight and Palletline ensuring customers continue to receive a first class delivery service. Space previously utilised by Aspall for warehousing will also be freed up for additional product development work.

The new partnership makes good environmental sense, too – an important issue for Aspalls, who are committed to long term sustainability. Anglia Freight is located close to Aspall’s production facilities, allowing deliveries to optimise the environmental benefits of the Palletline system in terms of reduced vehicle miles and night trunking.
